So , im playing BF3 since 31/10/2011. no problems till the last small patch that should implement ALIENFX. Jesus.
The game runs smooth, and no errors, with the exception of one.
Since that day, they release this ALIENFX patch, everytime when i exit the game, then when it hits back to windows, after 1 second, there is error message bf3.exe stopped working.
I know its nearly ok, i exit the game, but the message wasnt there before the patch.
i looked into app log, and here it is, its alltime the same, see screen.
I see .net runtime has crashed, and 1 second later bf3.exe has crashed.
I figure out that the .net runtime is required for full functioning ALIENFX. yes.
so i thought .net 4.0.30313 is damaged. so i uninstall it, and install 4.5.
but the message is still the same, pointing to .net 4.0.313 has crashed (its on the screen), but meeeen , its no more in laptop, there is new 4.5, you can see it in screen too.. wth is that ?
anyone has this weird issue ?
look like maybe its something wrong in the patch from DICE ?
it started exactly when the game patched itself with this small patch. I try to reinstall the game, but its the same.
and yes, i have disabled - enable 3rd party alienfx access.
EDIT: one additional thing. When the error bf3.exe stopped working, appears after exiting the game, there is ntdll.dll library failure shown in the message. but in fact its .net 4.x failure.

god thx its not only me.... so its DICE problem. it should fix ALIENFX. and result ? it broke it. grrrrrr
-
I get this as well. It is annoying. What is more annoying is the stupid AlienFX patch that changed my settings so that the colors change and loop while the game is playing. I don't like it so I've been Going Dark (FN+F11). Hopefully they will release a patch to fix this patch.

BTW, this you can fix (but not the error message after quiting the game)
right click on alien scull on the bar, and uncheck "enable 3rd party ALIEN FX access". -

I'm not sure if the runtime issue is something that is happening to everyone. Unless this is something that is affecting everyone, which I doubt based on the lack of response to this thread, there probably won't be a patch from Dice. I don't screw around with the runtimes because other programs share them (I think?). -
I have original factory (recovery image) on 8GB usb boot stick, i have image after i set evertyhing to what i wanted. So i play with it a little, and change things to see the difference. No difference. its DICE failure.
Can you believe the day before the patch everything was working right ? -
Yeah it figures they fix something (which I didn't even want) and break another. At least it isn't affecting the installation or Windows in any way. Yet.
-
That explains it. I figured it had to do with one of their patches.

Also keep in mind that depending on your OS you might need to install .Net Framework versions LOWER then 4.0.
This is for Windows OS versions lower then Windows 7.
You might want to install ".NET Framework 4. Client profile" and ".NET Framework 4 Extended".
Hope this helps out and i might want to make a side note that i don't have this Alien FX issue on my R2 playing BF3 and i play the game AT LEAST 4 hours a day
