    Hello!
I was just curious how well I should expect Battlefield 3 to run on my M17Xr1 listed in my sig. Will the 280m SLI and Q9000 cpu and 4GB of ram hold up all right? Where should I expect to keep my settings at, suggestions?
Thanks so much, not sure if my one M11Xr1 will even be able to play it at all.....
    :)

Also, any reccomendations for newer/stable stable drivers to use for BF3 with this 280m sli GPU? SHould I get them from dell or nvidia? Haven't had to get any new drivers in quite a while.
    Thanks!

Thanks so much! So I downloaded 285.62 and copied and replaced those files. Installation went fine except that it said PhysX didn't install correctly. What's up with that, and is it a problem?
Also, what settings in the game are reccomended for this setup? Medium, high? Anything that will give me the best performance with the best visuals I should know about?
    THanks!
    :)

    No problem, happy it helped.

Did you uninstall the previous PhysX version along with the older drivers?

Not manually no, I thought that's what "clean install meant".

260m gave me about 30 fps, but it drops a bit when explosions and people shoot at you. I would think you will be sitting around 40 with some drops now and then.

I really appreciate your help and your time! When I uninstall PhysX from the control panel I get a window that says " The feature you are trying to use is on a network resources that is unavailable" It wants me to "find an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package". Also it says "the instalation source for this product is unavailable. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it".
I have no idea what to do, it won't let me uninstall it but it seems to not even be there.....
    :(

I have an R1, with basically the same specs as you Tim, 2.3GHZ OC"d q9000, but i also OC"d my 260s to (650,1100,1600, stable), play with 285.62 WHQL. With respect to BF3 settings i play on 1900x1200 with custom videosettings , everything medium (except shadows = low), everything else off with 1x filtering and SSAO on. Looks good and runs smooth, about 40-50 fps on average, see no reason why you shouldnt be able to pull that off

Hi, Tim, you should uninstall current drivers and install your previous ones, so PhysX version will match again.
Then uninstall PhysX first, reboot to Safe Mode, uninstall your display drivers, reboot and clean your registry, reboot and install 285.62 once again with the .infs.

If all else fails give Driver Sweeper 3.20 a try in Safe Mode.

    Cheers

This is so frustrating. I did everything you suggested and reinstalled my old drivers and went throught everything, and physX still will not uninstall and using driver sweeper after all that didn't fix it. I really cannot get this thing off my computer. ergh
Is it the end of the world if PhysX doesn't work? what would this imply?
    Thanks again for the help!
    :)

    Bump.
Anyone out there ever had trouble getting PhysX uninstalled, any solutions?
CCleaner and Driversweeper aren't working. :/

Getting a newer version of physx fixed it for me, seems to be the only way to remove since the old remaining junk files get replaced, then just uninstall normally. I even had to format the comp the second time physx bugged for me, so something to consider as a last resort :)
