What if I have a BIOS password but I cannot enter it because the keyboard is not working properly? I still have a warranty (i used the laptop for 4months) however they imposed that I must pay for the motherboard replacement for $225 dollars, because I put a BIOS password. What should I do? Is removing the CMOS battery will reset the BIOS pass? I already tried the USB keyboard aint working.

    Plug in an external keyboard

Yes. Removing the cmos and then holding down the power button will reset the bios without a password. I did this on my m17x when I forgot my password. Make sure that the laptop is not plugged in and that the battery and the cmos battery are all removed, then drain the capacitors by holding down the button.

    Good luck!

Doing this will NOT reset or remove the password. And to be honest good thing it's not that easy.

For sure. The last time I needed to get into a dell BIOS they had me fax over the ID from the HD (which is used in he encryption algorthm) on company headed paper including the address where the machine is registered. They then supply a unique unlock code. Don't know how they handle this for end-users as opposed to business purchases.

In my opinion, the issue is not that you have a BIOS password - it's that your keyboard isn't working. So ask for a replacement keyboard, and type in your password normally. (To me it sounds like you still know the password, is that correct?)

If you have forgotten your password - then I agree with the others, you're kinda SOL.

As suggested above an external keyboard should work fine. Make sure you plug it into an USB 2.0 port.
