Dear owners of the new Alienware 14 or Alienware 17 notebook, we've just posted the new A04 BIOS update for these two systems with some tweaks that will improve your GPU performance and clock speeds.

This BIOS update is intended only for the recent notebooks launched in June and should not be updated by anyone with the previous M14x or M17x systems.

Head over to the support site and grab your updates at:

Does this eliminate the throttling issue on these models?

    Hi.

It seems like the 780M in the Alienware 18 does throttle too.
Core clock goes down to 614 Mhz when running 3DMark 11.
Is any Update coming for the Alienware 18 in the near future?

And in the Alienware 17 with Optimus enabled the 780m still drops to Core clock 666 Mhz.
With Optimus disabled its even worse. Core clock drops to 614 Mhz too.

Base Clock of the 780m should be 823 Mhz afaik.
Why do the cards drop below this value at all?

    Greetings
