Power Driver is part of the Video driver - Try updating the video driver to the A01 version on Dell's Website.

I was having blue screen issues on a fresh install of Windows 7 ultimate using the A00 driver until I got the update installed.

You're the second person I'm seeing with this BSOD, and this user also very recently received his m17x R3. He also had a NVIDIA card. In your shoes, I would call Alienware about this. You shouldn't be blue screening out of the box like that.

    To check your driver version:

    1. Open the Start Menu, right-click Computer and select Manage... Computer Management will open. It may ask you for administrative rights depending on your UAC settings.
    2. In the left pane, select Device Manager. On the right pane, expand Display adapters and double click your NVIDIA graphic card.
    3. Click on the Driver tab. You'll see the driver version there.

    I use the A00 driver. A04 bios.

Changed nvidia manage 3d settings. Power management mode - > Prefer max performance.

I don't recall having the power state blue screen since.

Tried the A01 drivers a couple times and would get the bluescreen occasionally.

You might want to consider reformatting your M17x. I was having the same problem like you in the beginning; random BSOD regardless of driver.

After I reformatted, it seemed to have gotten a lot better. Only had 1 BSOD after 3 weeks of usage.

To me that's a huge improvement since the BSOD problem occurred daily before this.

Just a suggestion. And I've gotten rid of the Mcafee anti virus lol.

I got the blue screens off a fresh format, so i don't think another format would do much good. The nvidia control panels changes I made seem to be working for me...

    Nvidia driver version is in:
Nvidia Control panel (right click desktop) or Control Panel\Hardware and Sound
Once in control panel click help -> system information

The first item is the nvidia Driver Version. 266.08 is A00. I'd have to look on dell's site to see what A01 would translate to... 267.xx something if i recall.

You can run any dell bios you like without warranty issues.

I got rid of my BSOD's by running the A01 driver version from the Dell website (267.xx) but ended up having sleep issues where the screen would turn itself off after resuming from sleep.

You can load 275.33 with the INF patch found elsewhere on this forum. This resolved the sleep issue but broke Power DVD 9.6's 3D playback... but you'll want to upgrade to 11 Ultra anyway.

Do not try to use the 275.xx drivers running with the 60hz screen. Windows 7 won't boot with them. You will just have to go to safe mode and revert back to one of the dell drivers.

I've been having the same issues! I just got my M17x R3 last week. And it came pre installed with the A01 nvidia 460m drivers. So far I've had 3 BSOD. And Adobe After Effects shuts down randomly with a message "Nvidia kernel 267.64" has shut down and recovered.
