Hey guys, my m17x arrived last Friday and since then i have been getting the Blue screen of death some 30+ minutes after switching the notebook on... I'm getting it in games, when I'm surfing net or when I'm just looking at the desktop, waiting for the BSoD :p ... is there any solution for this problem ? this is the third notebook I've owned that had this issue, starting with Asus G73jh then Toshiba Qosmio X500-11z and now M17x ... so maybe notebooks don't like me :p

Are your notebooks overheating? All those notebooks you mentioned are pretty darn powerful and can heat up like a furnace without proper ventilation and if ambient temperatures are high.
Also when you get a BSOD, it creates a dump file but you can also see what failed during the BSOD itself. It could be something to do with drivers... but seeing as you've had this problem with three laptops I don't know what to make of it really.

My M17x isn't any warmer than yours is... let's just forget about the other notebooks and focus on this one, since the other ones are long gone (sold)...

Would you please download WhoCrashed or Bluescreenview and let us know the causing file and BSOD code? (Bug check code)

You can also refer to this article for information about BSOD's

Run a PSA, on startup (Alien Logo) press F12 several times and use the last option -Diagnostics- Let it run the extended memory test and post back any errors you get from that. Some of them may be related to the HDD and some others seem to be related to the Anti-Virus, which antivirus are you running?

Then we have everything sorted out, unfortunately the NOD32 is the one causing some of them. eamonm.sys is part of that. Take a look.
Seems like the issue is a conflict between that and Windows Updates as I saw several posts about this not only on Vista but on Windows 7 as well...

Do you think that some kind of update would sort it out ? And what about the other ones ? All are related to the HDD ?

The other ones may be related to DirectX so you can also update the Directx on your system using this link.
The rest of them may be related to either the memory or the hard drive but they could also be related to the same issue that ESET is causing.

Just because our laptops may be the same, doesn't mean that they all are producing the same amount of heat. Don't be ignorant to this. My ambient temps may be 20c, while yours is 30c. Because of the difference, your system will heat up and have issues sooner than mine. Also, depending on how well your paste job is, your system may overheat faster then someone with a better paste job. Not all systems are created equal.

Sorry to go a bit off topic, hope you get this resolved.

I said that because my temps under load are about 65 degrees celsius, which is well within safety limits i dare to say...

Also, if the Nod 32 Antivirus is causing problems will NOD 32 SmartSecurity also cause problems ? So far, thanks for your help, thanks.

Probably yes, it would be better to disable both for this specific troubleshooting.

Well it's confirmed... It was caused by NOD 32. It's great to be able to use this otherwise great notebook without all the BSoDs :D Thanks man... The Diagnostics showed green across the board so i guess it's just the antivirus... Thanks again man. If anything else happens i know who to contact.
