I've been looking at Swiss Gear, but i don't know which one will fit this heavy brick. Also, I don't know if another brand might be better/cheaper.

Any suggestions? Specific links would be helpful.

Someone here bought a Swiss Gear backpack that said fit the M17x well but I can't remember which model it was. Maybe the IBEX?

I just tried the IBEX at Best Buy, no workie. I could only get it to slide in 1/3 of the way. The thread with the Nikon D80 pics shows the Swiss Gear Pegasus working, but I tried it out and found that the zippers were gonna scratch the hell outta my M17x, so I don't recommend it. I'm a hard core Swiss Gear fan, but for the time being, I dont see a model that fits it :( ... I'm bagless for the now, but that Velocity Matrix looks pretty good.

As for the Orion, a sales manager at Alienware told me the messenger worked, but not the backpack. I'd get it if someone could verify that it fits... Moo, can you hurry up and get yours?

Yeah that's the thread I where I saw it. Thanks Praze.

The Mobile Edge site gives the interior dimensions of the Orion as 18"x13"x2". You should be able to stretch it out to fit that extra .12". ;)

Yeah, the orion backpack should fit it with no problems.

Not sure why the rep said otherwise....

The IBEX will not work. I also tried at Best Buy and it would not fit.

The Targus citygear 17 inch version worked ok. I just didnt like the material that the bag was made out of. However, it fit with room to spare.

Vandit got the Swiss gear Pegasus bag and it worked. Pics below.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=391226&page=20

I just ordered the Toshiba Bag to see how it goes.
    http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-PA1453U-1BG8-17-Inch-18-Inch-Backpack/dp/B001OC1FZC

I had a gift card there so why not try.. Just wish the strap at the top was reinforced like swiss gear.

I love swiss gear and prefer them but wanted a little more room at the top of the bag. As you can see in Vandit's photos there isnt much room at the top of the bag... The zippers rest against it just about. No padding on the upper third of the notebook.. Just worries me some...

It's hard to find a good bag these days. Maybe we should right the major backpack manufacturers with the specification? I'd be interested just to find one that's water proof. We get some really sever thunderstorms here and I'd like to know my multi-thousand dollar laptop is safe and secure.

    Orion all the way!

Both bags are good, I just prefer mobile edge because they make very good bags (and you can get the orion cheaper with a coupon or ebay, etc)

Well, Dell sells the orion and there was a 25% off coupon for SB accessories. Could have gotten the bag for about $65 brand new.

You just have to keep an eye out for Dell coupons, that's all.

Personally I'm not a fan of either version of the AW Orion bags...look too kiddy for my tastes. Same with the Slappa backpacks although the Slappa messengers are nice.

I'm with you, moo - I think the orion (and the XPS bag) are probably the best fit for the M17x.

PPl might laugh at the XPS bag but it is REALLY good (and I think it is made by mobile edge, but don't quote me on that).

    XPS bag here

Well the Toshiba gaming back pack came in today. The build quality is better than the tragus ones. Still no where near Swiss gear..

I guess this one will do until I can get a good Swiss gear or maybe someday shell out money for that python bag..lol
