So the title says it all. I have an MX17R1, but still under warranty for 2 more years. I think I ordered the last MXR1 that they made..<sigh>
It has been an adventure since I got it, the first unit was returned and I got a new one. I should have walked away and just gotten my money back, but I did not.
This unit, has had the graphics cards replaced once, I have the GTX 260's in SLI.
Now I keep having the display just go out. I am using an external monitor, but when it goes out, I unplug the monitor and the main screen does not come on, and pressing all the FN keys to force changing the video card, or the display route does nothing.
So I call support, and we run diagnostics, and it says my hard drive is bad. So they send out one, I install it, reinstall the OS, but have a hard time getting the disk to get recognized on the boot.
Now I have everything re-installed, and certain disks are not being read in the CD/DVD drive. And sometimes it will not read blank disks for when I try to burn things.
Any ideas? Is there a firmware update for the CD/DVD that I need to install, or a driver?
Or do you think the Motherboard is going bad? I have not had any graphic outages since I reinstalled the HD, but that was just yesterday, so no real time of usage to see if that issue is cleared up.
Any suggestions? I like the laptop, but between the driver issues and these hardware issues..gah..

Fight them tooth and nail man. Click on my name and then view my previous posts... I have a couple threads about the issues with them. I too got a replacement system and it broke down. Now they are sending me my second replacement system and it's not even what I ordered!
Bad HD, replaced, now CD-rom will not detect disks all the time?
