I just bought my girlfriend a new Inspiron. While I was loading drivers on after installing Win8, I noticed that it had a setting for the battery that didn't allow it to overcharge if it was plugged in and didn't get a full discharge. Why isn't there a feature on our top of the line laptops like that? I can't remember exactly what it was called, and it's wrapped right now, so I can't tell you the exact wording of it.

I don't think ours have anything like that built in.

I see a similar feature on my D430. Apparently the AW laptops have this built in (AW rep here stated it) so do not need software to stop an overcharge.

Just to provide an official word on this. It does have it built-in. If you have one of the older PC's you need to press Fn+F2 to disable charging but on the newest ones it just disables charging on it's own.
