If you have the R3, fn+F2 doesn't really do anything.

Why would I need it anyway? I take out the battery when I'm at home.

I actually like this feature on my R2. If you are having problems, it may be worth uninstalling and reinstalling command centre and/or OSD. I seem to recall I had a similar problem and did that and it worked. Could be worth a shot.... ;)

It lets you do that without having to physically take out the battery.

I am having the same issue. Would really like this feature to work.

Cause then you wouldn't have to take out the battery :p

oh and cause it'll still help you in the case of a power outage. It just won't charge the battery. I just leave it plugged in anyhow.

You can't disable the charging on the R3 using that button. You have to go into the bios to disable charging. To be clear, FN+F2 doesn't actually do anything.

Cause some people don't take the R3 off their desks very often at all, so to avoid the wear that happens when the battery drains slighty then recharges, over and over, some people would rather just disable charging. Note that this is not the "memory effect", its just basic wear and tear; lithium batteries don't suffer from memory.

Batteries still get worn if you keep them in storage though...just use your battery and accept that these things die. Haha.
