Should I be using the Alienrespawn premium feature for backing up my whole system to another location(HDD/DVD's) ?
Or is there a better alternative out there that I should be using to have a true 1:1 backup of my entire system setup?

Alienrepawn is good but pretty pricey.

Alternatives are norton ghost and acronis.

I went with the respawn premium simply because it works fine AND if I have problems it is supported by dell :)

Windows 7 has really good built-in backup functionality. It also has built-in image backups.. I use it all the time.. You can use them to restore from the boot menu on a windows 7 disc.

I have not looked at Windows 8 yet.

Windows 8 is better since it does file versioning too.

I use a Windows Home Server (HP 490), automatically does incremental backups, and i can do a bare-metal restore over network :)

there is a small annoyance when running x64, their restore software only saved the 32-bit drivers...so you need to make sure you have x64 drives...

( wished MS made a 3rd version based off there new server pooled storage and better x64 support)
