Hey there, I was wondering what is the best Killer 1103 Driver. I used to use the latest one a couple of months ago (not the current latest one) but my internet was dropping constantly so I downloaded some generic Atheros driver from Atheros & Zidas drivers but now I have reformatted and I downloaded another driver from that page but it isn't performing as well so I'm not sure if I downloaded the correct driver. Also, I am on Windows 7 still.

If someone can please give me a link or tell me how to tell which driver is mine on that page as I have no clue how anyone can tell. Or if the latest Bigfoot driver is finally stable and optimal.

Thank you guys and gals so much for the help! This is driving me nuts!

Are you on Windows 8? If you are, I've noticed, mine drops constantly. It'll work fine, then drop and I have to kick it to airplane mode and back. I'm running an Intel WiFi card, but it seems to be an issue. Perhaps that's what you're experiencing.

My Killer 1103 gets here Tuesday, I'll let you know how mine performs if yours is still acting up.

I have been using the drivers that killer first released for windows 8 and haven't had an issue. Not sure why it would be doing that. :(

Just use the atheros drivers. Bigfoot ones are a bit sucky.

    Hi Everyone,

I made an earlier post about something similar to this:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/698135-m17x-r4-windows-8-killer-n-1103-a.html

When I was using the Windows 7 driver provided by Alienware, which was installed via an upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8, I had no problems. Once I upgraded the drivers to the Windows 8 specific ones, my connection would randomly "drop." The connection itself stayed stable, but I had no connectivity. I lost both my Internet connection as well as connections to my network drives (on my home network). I then tried the Killer N drivers (from their website), and that did not fix the problem. I have been running on the default Windows 8 provided Atheros drivers for about 4 days now, and my connection hasn't "dropped" since. If people are having this same issue with the Intel card, this makes me think that perhaps it isn't a Killer N driver issue?

But where do I get the Atheros ones! The Dell ones are dated and I don't know to tell which atheros driver to download. Please help!

    Hi redsfan7035,

If you uninstall the Dell/Killer N drivers, and then scan for hardware drivers (or reboot), Windows 8 will install its default driver. That is what I am currently using. It has been stable since I did that. However, I don't have any of the cool features provided by the KillerN software :-(

    Thanks Baiii I'll try that.

Hey Richard I'm on windows 7 I'm sure I could do the same thing I've just never trusted windows to install the correct one or most recent.

You basically don't need to install any, just make sure you uninstall the bigfoot network manager software it will remove the killerwireless driver, pretty much immediately after that you should have a dropout in your wifi. Then it will reconnect because windows will have installed its own driver for the wifi (you don't install anything). Do a reboot and its done. I had issues using the killer wireless after long sleeps but no dropouts so far with stock windows drivers. Also in the advanced settings you may need to enable ad hoc n and drynamic power saver. They are disabled by default.

    Howdy Everyone,

I spoke too soon :-( Last night my connection "dropped" with the stock Atheros driver (Windows 8). I never had the dropping problem under Windows 7, even with the Killer-N drivers. The "good" thing about the stock drivers provided by Windows, is that they are usually very stable. They don't always give you the best performance, but they are typically rock solid. If you are looking for the best "performing" drivers, chances are you should stay with the latest Killer-N drivers, but there are several reports on this board that they are not stable. Personally, I never had any issues with the WiFi until I upgraded to Windows 8. I purchased my M17X in July of this year, and ran it under Windows 7 until 27 Oct, and not a single WiFi issue during that timeframe. I am startign to think that the "dropping" issue is not related to a specific network driver, but perhaps a protocol driver in Windows 8? Redsfan7035, are just looking for the "best" or are you trying to solve a problem? Thanks!

    Rich S. :)

Hey LinkRS, I'm trying to find the best stable driver. I'd prefer a performance one but I haven't had goodluck with the Bigfoot drivers. My internet keeps dropping and my ping has been way higher since before my clean install. I also got my computer in July and had problems with the stock Bigfoot drivers as well as the updated ones. I installed the Atheros driver from that website, stationdrivers.com, or whatever it is that was posted previously, before I did my fresh install and it worked perfectly. But after my fresh install I've tried the stock driver off Dell and the updated one on Bigfoot and neither worked. I don't know which driver to install off that stationdrivers website as there as SOOOO many Atheros drivers to pick from and I have no idea how to tell which to use! Which is also a question that I have of how to tell which one to download, all people keep doing is linking to the site which I appreciate I just don't have any idea which one to download.

Thanks everyone for the input if anyone can please help me I'd really appreciate it!

My 1103 just showed up, put it in, same issue. I used the Killer drivers, so far after I disabled the application control and rebooted, I haven't had a drop. I'll leave the command line ping running and see if it continues to hold.

Edit: Nevermind, it just did... Ugh. I think I'm going back to Win7. Windows 8 driver support just isn't there enough for me yet.
