Hi all, I'm looking to buy a new M17x and I'm wondering where i should purchase it from. I'm looking for the best price. Is dell's website the best place or there are better alternatives?

    Thank you

I ordered my through aafes and got 22% off :D . the only way to get the aafes discount is to either be in the armed forces or know someone kind enough to buy it for you that is.

Thanks guys, I will try by phone first. I wouldn't want to risk ebay unless someone can refer me to a guaranteed ebay dealer.

Or you can go with the Dell Outlet. If I'm correct, they're still having the 20% off deal. At least that's what I was emailed about yesterday :p

If you're lucky, you can find one off the NBR marketplace. Got a fully spec'd AW m17x R2 for $1800. The only aftermarket upgrades that I needed to get is a ssd and G.Skill ram.

My father in law was in the military many years ago. Do you think he will be eligible for AAFES?

I called alienware yesterday but the sales guy didn't even feel like talking. He hardly tried to help me and when I mentioned about any discount he didn't respond at all. For real this guy didn't even feel like talking. I live 6 months in the US and 6 months in europe so he told me that the one year warranty does not cover international warranty and I should get 3 year warranty. This is 300$ more and I really didn't expect that extra expence.
I have no way of getting the AAFES discount so im stuck. Is there anybody that can refer me to a specific sales rep?

3500 after tax, my rep also took off a nice chunk. Keep in mind my order has the 3year NBD In-house tech service and 4year accidental damage warranty.

Wow. 3500 is a lot of money for a laptop. In two years its already old and you cant upgrade. I spend 2000 and after one year I sell it 1300 and get a new one. This way every year I have a new laptop with top specs. Never had an alienware before. If you spend 3500 how much would you be able to sell it for in a year? Not more then 2000 if your lucky. Of course it all comes down to how much money someone has. All im looking for is to get the specs I posted with 3 years warranty and the backpack for 1900.

Not everybody needs to upgrade every year. The laptop in my sig is replacing a 4 year old SON.Y. Mind you, the SON.Y still works fine. I just needed a computer for my home theater, and the SON.Y has HDMI. So, why not treat myself to a new laptop!

True but usually someone who buys an Alienware is a gamer and every year the new games that come out are more demanding in HW. For instance you can spend 3500$ for the latest and greatest with the ati 6970 and 10 months later new Directx 12 comes out with new games supporting it and the new 7970 card with directx 12 support. its much harder to replace a 3500$ laptop then a 2000$ one. Of course if you are not a heavy duty gamer you are right. You can use this laptop for many many years.

Myself im a gamer and i like to be on the edge of technology :D
