After I purchase my M17x with a base HDD, I want to add an SSD, before the laptop arrives. I've been wondering what I should get. I think around the 200+ mark is good for size, as I have a lot of games, and a lot of programs which I want to run from the SSD. I've thought of getting a Vertex 3 250gb. Thoughts?

I also want to upgrade to at least 8gb of ram. I was thinking Kingston HyperX 1866mhz ram?

ram is almost irrelevant in terms of speed. all the reviews ive read indicate the speed of ram has virtually no impact.

theres about a million ssd guides on google too. personally i use the agility 3 and it works well

For SSD try Solid State Drives (SSDs) and Flash Storage here. You will get lots of good advice.

Dont think you can go wrong with the Crucial M4 or Intel 510 Series if you want the latest and greatest.

No useful information from me on RAM

If I were you I would get a 120GB Corsair Force GT and save the money over getting a 240GB to get a 750GB Scorpio Black. I have a similar configuration and it is perfect. I put everything besides games on the SSD and I have a lot of room to spare. If not the Force GT I would get a 510.
