Windows updating now, no problems so far.

Allready looks like everything runs smoother/faster then the Vertex 3.

Told you not to go for the Vertex 3, as @gulls777 said, they are only good for benchmarks. The m4 and 510 are undoubtedly the best SSDs in the market now. Best of luck with your M4.

I did the LPM fix and installed it. Had some minnor freezes but they are gone now. :) Smoking fast.

Would anybody see some number? What program should I use for that?

Curious, if I'm using the intel 510, do I need to do the LPM fix also?

Do you have freezes? Do you have RST installed? If so then it would work.

Do a test without and one with. Only thing I dont know is what program to use.

Well no issues at all right now. Guess I'll just install the rapid storage thing.

@ Brabostaan use Crystal Disk Mark for SSD benchmarks. @ zergslayer you don't need to do any tweaks for RST with 510, works alright.

No Intel is one of the few SSDs that have no problem with the LPM. A perk to have the same company that make the chipsets in your laptop to also write the firmware for the SSD ;)

Woo, I thought as much. Nice to not have to worry about anything beyond putting it into the computer.

I would like to see some benchmarks for all the various ssd's you all put in your system. I was unable to find a thread that was specific to this topic other than this one. The reason I ask is I would like to confirm that the R3 has a hardware issue that is beyond my own skill level to diagnose. I've searched and searched and the few people that did post benchmarks for their ssd on a m17xR3 all report numbers worse than my own regardless of the drive they use. I would like to learn which drive truly is the best on a R3, and what specific problem the R3 has, and if Dell would acknowledge it and do something about it (not trying to jack this thread just seems fitting to post here).

I personally got the OCZ vertex III 120gb because I wanted the fastest. On a secure erase fresh Win7 install in port 1 naked of all drivers, I get results identical to what I've posted. Installing drivers makes the drive not stall and run very fluently and I'm pleased on that note. I personally am in AHCI mode, using m18x chipset (most current) and IRST drivers with LPM fix and all other ssd optimizations The SSD Optimization Guide | The SSD Review that is what my benchmark reflects. Yes the benchmark was taken after many hours of idling on the log off screen. I've concluded my system cannot produce better results and I'm curious if other R3's can and on what ssd. Just seems to me that the R3 itself bottlenecks everything but seq read.
