I'm looking to buy a SSD for my R3 but wasnt 100% on which to get, I have a 120gb Vertex 3 on backorder so while I have time to change my mind I wanted some opinions

basically im deciding between the 120 or 240gb Vertex 3 or Intel's Sata 3 drives (which i believe are slower then the vertex 3) running in AHCI with a 500 GB Seagate Momentus XT Solid State Hybrid

    OR

is it worth the cash to run 2 SSDs in Raid 0? and as long as the type of ssd is the same will it still function properly? like a 120gb vertex 3 in raid 0 with a 240gb vertex 3? or is it just better to buy 2 240's etc.

Intel 510 Series SSDs are amazing.

If I could afford them right now, I would be getting a pair of those myself.

    I would stick with Intel.

I read some real bad reviews on the 510 series though, scares me a bit, apparently there controller they chose to use on them is . but do you think they are that much better then the OCZ vertex 3s?

I believe they all use the same controller for the most part.

If you read some reviews on Newegg, etc, on those SSDs, you will see they all have a pretty much equal failure rate.

Intel has the best warranty from my experience though. If you ever need to RMA it, it will most likely be a brand new one instead of a refurb/used one from OCZ.

I have been studying this a bit recently as I plan to get one myself.

The Intel 510 series of drives use a new Marvel controller, the OCZ Vertex 3 drives use a new generation SandForce controller. They operate in different ways completely. But obviously perform the same function.

The SandForce based Vertex 3 drives are the fastest according to reviews by Toms Hardware, AnandTech and others.

Reliability of the SandForce drives is not entirely known as the current generation has not been released yet and the previous generation has only been on the market for 1 - 1.5 years.

I have a Vertex 3 240GB on pre-order at Amazon, I expect it will be available within the next couple of weeks.

I intend to use the SSD as the primary drive for the OS and apps, including games and then add a second platter based drive for data storage.

Is the Crucial C300 128GB SSD the best 128GB ssd out there? Seems to be from the minimal research I have done...any other suggestions for that size?

I have the 128gb Vertex 3 on pre-order now, would u recommend I upgrade it to 240Gb and use the Hybrid for data storage? or is there a better alternative to use as a data harddrive?

the c300 series seems significantly slower then both the Vertex 3 and Intel 510 series
