    Hello friends,

I've recently ordered the Alienware M17x-R2 and the wait is excruciating!

In the mean time, I'm looking into getting some sort of cooling solution. I've seen the Cryo LX, the Zalman, the Lian-Li, etc. and they all seem to be HEAVY and "lap unfriendly". I realize that I'll take a performance hit but I'm really looking for something:

    1) Comfortable on your lap
    2) Portable (not heavy and small enough to fit in your typical 17" laptop bag)

Thanks so much for your help!

    Regards,
    Ishakir

I picked up a Logitech Lapdesk N700 however it's not exactly portable or light. I ended up choosing this one because it had a fan as well. The built in speakers have actually been very surprising and sound great so I often use them instead of the m17x speakers.

You still might want to look at other Logitech lap products here (scroll down). Perhaps one of the alternatives like the Comfort Lapdesk might match your requirements - it doesn't have a fan but looks like it could accommodate a 17" notebook a little better.

Good luck and let us know what else you find and what you ultimately choose.
