I have the U3 as well but honestly I have come to hate it. The fans are cheap and don't last long, I am on my 3rd set of them in a year and even those are making noises now but keep using it because I can't find anything better. The base has also warped over time with the laptop on it but I move it around a lot and it goes from my lap to the desk a lot as well so that could have warped it somewhat as well.

I paid for the second and third set of fans for my U3, the second set was broken right out of the box from Cooler Master and when I contacted them they essentialy told me to bad, that I should take the working fans from my first set and move them into the second....I was pretty much done at that point.

This might be a little off topic but why would you want a cooling pad for the AW anyway? I'm using mine without it and my temps never go over 60 on full load. Convenience factor perhaps?

Well I think my CPU temps are a bit too high... Was playing BF4 now and 87C on my CPU.. A bit too high for my liking and my CPU is always runing at 60 even when web browsing.. I was thinking it might help to have something to reduce it as I don't have the confidence to repaste the CPU however, I'll just live with it for now...

I too have been looking to find a cooling pad. Part of me wants the sweet looking sf-19.... but then the rest of me says there is no way I am fitting that in my backpack with the laptop and other items.

I bought a U3 cooler alongside my Alienware. I did not really notice too big a difference.
But the good thing about the U3 is that it makes it extremely easy to make your own cooler.

Just screw in a couple 120mm fans, attach it to a power adapter and it does a much greater job then the 3 fans that are provided. It does come out more expensive - but I see it as a "PC upgrade".
