Is there a definitive way for upgrading the ATI gfx drivers properly for the M17xR3? I'm still running on Catalyst 12.3 (2012.0309.43.976) 8.951-120308a-135750C-ATI

I play SWTOR regularly, and ever since patch 1.4, there is immense frame stutter (reduced FPS) that never occurred before. I've been reading that people suggest updating videocard drivers, especially ATi.

However, I've also read that updating on alienware m17xR3's with the switchable gfx can be trivial.. So I don't want to screw this up..

If anyone has any simple methods or can direct me further; that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

This is the best method to keep your M17xR3 updated with latest drivers
Currently I'm on latest 9.001 and games are working flawlessly .

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see the hyperlink in your reply. I will try this method, hopefully I won't get BSOD's like I've been reading from others

Nop, there is NO BSOD using this method. Even after installing them, you can install these latest 9.001 on top.

Do I need the UP3 patch link thats also listed on leshcat's site? Or just the Unifl UP2 download for 12.6?

EDIT: How should I go about uninstalling everything? All I see in Programs and Features (control panel) is the AMD Catalyst Install Manager for removal and no other reference to the CCC. Also, do I really need Atiman uninstaller? I've read in google that it causes problems.. if not, whats the latest Atiman uninstaller I should use? Or is using CCleaner(in safe mode) itself sufficient enough for the cleaning?

First simply uninstall the drivers from control panel , then after reboot use atiman uninstaller. After the process end, reboot and use ccleaner and then reboot into safe mode and run driver sweeper and remove both intel display and amd and run ccleaner again. Then reboot into windows and install leshcats UP2 only from 12.6, then upgrade to 12.8 by using steps I'd mention in original thread and then you can later update to 9.001 if you want.
And Atiman never caused problem for me, not sure about other users though.
