Lately i had to reinstall my computer due to some sort of failure.
Therefore i had to reinstall Battle Field Bad Company 2 again.
And, ofcourse, i also had to change my settings again.

so far i havent been able to tweak my settings the way i had them before i crashed. unfortunately i wasnt able to recover them.

So my question here, as most people on here have (roughly) the same hardware. I can look into general BFBC2 google searches, but those don't discuss it in such a specific way.

i have the M17X R2, Core i720, 8GB of ram and the ATI 5870 CrossFire.

i had the stock video drivers, but just installed the 10.7 drivers with the 10.7 application profiles.

what i am interested in is the graphic settings, dxversion=auto/11/10/9, bloom=true/false, HSAO=true/false etc.

so please... if you have any info on that... let me know.

    Just max the game out.

Auto will use DX11 and that is what you want.
    Bloom true
HSAO true if your fps is ok, false if not

Use full ingame settings with AF maxed out and AA as high as framerate allows. Only 2xAA is totally fine. Turn it off first after HSAO if framerate is low.

OC your 5870's and then crank it to the max!

not sure if 5870's do the same thing, but i noticed in my game that while even though the game runs basically the same regardless of 1-4x AA, if theres a lot of smoke in your face, it will slow down more depending on how high AA is. Kinda ty really, wish ATI would do something about it

Yeah smoke and dust really take it out on me.
I even think that guys who have that on minimum level (or maybe even 'switched off') have both in viewdistance/clarity and framerate an immediate advantage... so maybe it is not that good an idea to max that out ;)

same goes for blooming... it looks beautiful, but you might lose the advantage when looking out of a window, especially in desert environments.

i will try out the other settings, thanks!

I learned that the hard way. Turning up all the options was putting me at a disadvantage online because the bloom was blinding me all the time.

I go for the effects, if it makes the game harder thats fine its more realistic and more fun.

No point in having the awesome system to turn the settings down.

Hm.. without overclocking (700/1000 clocks), and All performance on High, 2x AA, 8x AA.. I turned on Fraps and it recorded a low of 5 FPS (and no.. stealth was off). I then clocked it to (760/1100) and it Was doing a low of 19 FPS.. how much do I have to bloody OC it! And Fraps.. how much bloody performance does that suck out from the game!
