I live in Florida so there are a lot of lightning strikes. What can I buy to protect my laptop from that? Will a basic surge protector do?

i prefer battery backups from APC as they have auto shutdown features and other things like that. i'm used to having laptops that don't have the best battery life so having a battery backup helps a lot as does the auto shutdown feature.
