Has anyone found a way to solve this problem besides flashing the unlocked BIOS and enabling manual switching between the HD 4000 and the 7970m?

I get three to four hours of battery life with the HD 4000 off and two to three hours with the HD 4000 on.

On my M17xR4 (7970m w/ Enduro), I get over six hours of battery life with light web browsing and word processing. Approaching seven when idle. Display brightness set to about 30%.

    I'm using a mix of Dell/MSUpdate/Generic drivers running Windows 8 :/

Probably the fact that both of them require power to be on is what causes it to use more battery. Battery life depends solely on the way you use the machine. Here are some tips to help you with that.

My results are with the Extended Battery life profile for Dell's business laptops (no lights, 35% brightness, unnecessary devices off), light browsing in Chrome and using Microsoft word.

I'm still having this issue. Getting three hours with Enduro on is difficult.

Which GPU drivers are you using?

The OP of this thread had the same issue.
