Figured this needed a separate thread or else it would get lost within the depths of the official driver thread.

Anways, some of you may know, Dox is a mod from laptopvideo2go who have recently started hosting AMD drivers along with their huge library of every nvidia one that exists.

A few years back, Dox modded a few nvidia drivers allowing better compatibility as well as optimising performance. He dropped off the nvidia modding scene but he's back with some modded Catalyst drivers.

There's a normal and lite version:
    Catalyst 11.12 - LaptopVideo2Go Forums
    Catalyst 11.12 Lite - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

Both versions come with different driver packages for the switchable GPU users and the none switchable dGPU users so R2 owners can benefit too.

Please try them out. Both versions are switchable ready. I haven't got an AMD card so I can't test but for others, please try.

    Doesn't matter?

    LINK 1 CAT 11.12 Single/Crossfire
    LINK 2 CAT 11.12 ATI + Intel 4
LINK 3 CAT 11.12 ATI + Intel HD

I'll try (them later as it seems like it is a lot of effort...)

Sorry I forgot to mention that these drivers aren't just for switchable graphics users.

Installed these last night and they are working great. Tried them out on WoW, SWTOR, and BF2. Everything seems to be playing great and getting good FPS with them. Just be careful on the install it can be tricky. Follow the instructions he has posted and do it exactly as he says.

Can anyone report if these are better than the current 12.1 preview drivers?

I thought I would post some of my results with installing DOX Modded drivers, these ones mentioned above.

    1) They are currently installed successfully and I have working OSD screen brightness after standby and can switch between graphics (using ATI 6970m / Intel HD )

    2) The 2nd link posted for the 'Lite' version did not work after trying twice. Halfway through the install I would receive a message about 'Failed to load .inf' . The full version worked perfectly, first time.

    3) You MUST follow the steps exactly as outlined

    4) Once you have turned on TESTMODE (for unsigned drivers) you will have to leave TESTMODE on and will have some text in the bottom right of your wallpaper telling you it is still on. I can live with it, but some people may object.

    5) Only problem I've noticed (would love help if anybody knows what to do) is that if my dGPU (discrete, ATI 6970m ) is the graphics card being used when I put laptop in standby, then when I open lid, the backlight refuses to come on. With integrated graphics selected before standby, no issue. When dGPU is selected and I open lid after standby, I can see in really bright light all my windows, but there is no backlight. Just something to be aware of. I never had this issue before installing these drivers.

So, there may be enough information for others to make educated decision about whether it's worth the install hassle or not. I do not have any benchmark scores to say whether newer drivers are better. I assume newer drivers are better drivers, even though that is not always the case.

    quoted from the first link
oh and i'm getting instant BSOD with these as well, 6970m's in xfire don't like the 11.12's... or at least mine don't anyways.

Tried these myself and get an instant bsod on windows welcome screen.

Exactly the same problem as official 11.12s and xfire.

    back to 11.10 i go...

funny is with every driver u can switch.

want to go to intel? disable the ati card in device manager.
and want to go back re-enable it.
build a vbs to do it and works fine every time.

even when i switch with vbs i can use the fn/f7 to go back too.
seems just that the whole switchable graphics is bugged anyways.

Sorry for bringing up this - Any news performance-wise about it working, or not?

Going to try them out later this night..

    Edit:
This driver made my system really unstable, bluescreens in-game, on desktop, login, etc.. And it is not possible to properly uninstall the driver afterwards (files hang in there for some reason) which causes the next driver you install to BSOD aswell. (I never even activated integrated GFX)
    I'm formatting my drive now.
(Installed on the specs found in signature)
