So i found out today from reading through the forums that A09 doesnt support the 6 GPS speed from SDD III, im thinking about downgrading to the A08 to take advantage of those speeds but i am wondering if i should be worried about any issues that might happen from the downgrade, has anyone had issues or do i need to know anything before trying this? Thank you

No nothing that anyone has reported. The only thing A09 does seems to be downclocking the SATA speeds. You should be fine.

Perfect, where do i download the A08 bios? and i have heard of unlocked bios or other versions of A08? and advice on which one would be best to install?
Also thanks for all the help, this forum is 95% of the reason i bought an alienware so they should be giving some of the main members major discounts because of this forum haha -
SlickDude80 Notebook Prophet
download here:
ALIENWARE 17XR3 UNLOCKED A08 BIOS.rar
to install...click on insydeflash64.exe...this is the easiest bios update you'll ever do -
Ok thank you, one question? where is insydeflash64.exe? or do i have to download that also?
-
nvm dumb questions...

I updated the bios successfully, when i go into Intel Rapid Storage Technology it says its still transferring at 3 Gb/s. Is there a setting in the bios or somewhere else i need to change?

If you move your SSD to the other drive bay you will get Sata III speed.

Thats all i have to do? will my computer still boot off of that harddrive?
