Ok I had Bios 02. When the laptop was released. I look on the dell site. Seen the 05 for my system. So I download it. Follow the instuctions. Got to programming blok 41 and waited 30 Mins and Called Alienware. This was about 40 after this post. I could not reboot. Had to unplug and pull the battery out for it to shut down.
Then he had me try reset the bios. Which did not work and now only a black screen.
What get me is Desktop system has a default switch so If the file was bad as the one I downloaded. You have a secondary one that can be use to repair the main one.
Monday a motherboard. Dang I would love to install it my self.

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
That sucks man! Well I hope everything gets solved on this new MOBO.

I am thinking of printing out the replacement Manual so I dont get some MORON who ruins the system. I would do it my self but it would not be underwarrintee after that.
-
maybe you are going to have a new replaced one lol
-
don't let the dude touch it.
take a towel, put the lappy on it and slowly disassemble it.
On a side note, i have a Dell technicians-only doc for disassembling the thing.
The service manual is enough imho, but if you want that doc shoot me a pm. -
I did one better http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/404987-how-recover-bad-bios-flash.html was on the main notebookreview alienware fourm. It should be a sticky. I give thanks Axman

that's a good to know one.
nice. -
In my case, the flash went smooth (was at A04 to A02 and used A05 to reflash A04 rom). It's when in the shut down screen that it sat for at least 30 minutes when I had to kill all power to get it to shut down.
Now, it will not power up (no indication that it's trying either). I tried all steps from how to recover from a bad BIOS flash and googling and nothing worked. No power up, period.
Called Alienware and a service tech. is supposed to call me tomorrow to replace the motherboard. Getting nervous but not because of my brick but the ability of the service technician.
That bring me to my question for AtolSammeek: did Dell/Alienware have a service person come out to replace your motherboard next business day? -
I wonder if their is a jumper or switch on the motherboard to reset the bios or make bootable bios on disk? You do NOT have to
flash BIOS in consecutive order, in case anyone is wondering about A02 to A05.

The next day I called Alienware and told them I did not need a new motherboard. I did get alot of questions. How did you do it what did you do. How did you fix it.
I wish I seid That for me to know and you to find out. But I see people who having the same issues and I rather have them see this good info and have them use it and not have people like you have a laptop as door stopper for a week. -

My problem is that I cannot turn the computer on. Despite all methods suggested and tried, the computer refused to do anything except being dead. The power button does not do anything for the computer. I can't see any light, hear any hum, fan, hard drive, USB, nadda, zip. The whole thing still puzzle me.
Dell sent a new motherboard and it's at my local delivery station waiting for the service technician to pick up.
I am still nervous about past dead beat service technicians that killed several of my laptops.
Bios update went bad.
