I have search around the forums and found a lot of issues related to the 8 Beeps but many of them were posts about with them not being able to fix it with just a power drain. So my issue is a little different.

I typically close my laptop lid and leave it to 'sleep' . Few hours later, i will come back to my laptop and open the lid and I expect to see something on the screen like I would normally do but not anymore. The screen is black and the keyboards is lit up. I would then proceed to my next instinct which is to restart the machine by pressing the ON button (alien head button) and force a reboot. After I try to reboot from the black screen , I get the famous 8 Beeps (which means LCD failure). So at this point I do the suggested steps which is to do a power drain by removing the laptop battery and power cord and then plug just the power cord in and restart it. This somehow fixes it and it's booting up properly, it even asks me if I want to boot up normal because it failed the last time.

This has been happening for about a month.

    So my questions are:

What does this mean? What is wrong here? Is there any way to fix this? This power drain process fix is getting a little annoying.

460M GTX at the moment. Why? You think it's the card? I have made plans on getting a new card.

I wouldn't know yet but, let's check a few things:

What BIOS version are you running?

Have you tried running ePSA diagnostics or the LCD BIST?

When did this start? Did you do any hardware/software changes near this date?

What BIOS version are you running? A12

Have you tried running ePSA diagnostics or the LCD BIST? *EDIT* I just finished doing the ePSA and the graphics card and the LCD c
ame out as passed. I can't get into the LCD BIST however, for some odd reason this 8 BEEP issue is happening more often. I pressed and held "D" and then the power button and released both at the same time (whie on windows and on ePSA). It went to some "sleep" mode with nothing on the screen. The alien head (power button) was sorta flashing but that's about it. So i rebooted and the 8 BEEP was occurring. So I had to wait a few minutes, remove the laptop battery, waited a few more minutes and then press the power button to turn it back on. It took about 3 tries but it finally showed something on the screen and stopped beeping at me.

When did this start? Did you do any hardware/software changes near this date? Started about a month ago. There wasn't any known software updates but there were no hardware changes ever made to this machine.
