    Hey guys

I have the slot loading blu ray (reader only) drive on my 17x r3. I was wondering as to what would be some good and compatible options for a blu ray burner. Also, how hard is swapping optical drives on a laptop? Sorry, I'm very familiar with desktop builds but haven't done much other than Ram and HDD on laptops.

    Thanks.

Swapping it out is pretty complex. Involves removing a lot of stuff and not for the faint of heart.

Coming from anybody else, I'd give it a try; Coming from Widezu's mouth... could I get an external Blu-Ray burner, If that even exists?

I've been hoping for Alienware to include that option in the configurations for some time now, but it doesn't seem to be an option.

At this point, though, I would recommend finding an external.

Well it isn't that difficult. There's just lots of removing this and that. You basically take your whole laptop apart just to get to it.

Oh, then I'll just go ahead and get an external Blu-Ray burner, and I might just give it a go to get an internal one. Thx kakaroth1977, Little Washu, and widezu69.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll probably go external for now. Not feeling that ambitious.
