    Dear Friends...
I want to upgrade my optical Drive from DVD to Blu-Ray.
I saw the Blu ray option in DELL US WEBSITE which is there are two option :
    1.Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Reader (BR-ROM, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
    2.Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Burner (BR-R, DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

    and i want to change/upgrade it to Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Burner (BR-R, DVD+-RW, CD-RW).
    CAN I CHANGE IT ???
I MEAN can i Change my optical drive from DVD to Slot-Loading Dual Layer Blu-ray Burner (BR-R, DVD+-RW, CD-RW) ???

and if I can Upgrade it, is it WORTH to Upgrade it...??

Or should i just buy External Blu Ray Burner/reader ??

    Which one is Worth ?
Upgrade my optical Drive to Blu Ray Burner or just Buy external Blu Ray burner?

Also is there any different write / read SPEED between the internal optical Drive Blu Ray and the external optical drives Blu Ray ???

Please give Your suggestion and Commment.
    Help me please.

It depends what purpose you are buying the BW burner. Blank Blu-ray disks are still extremely expensive. Video cameras use AVCHD which is a 1080 video format that records on regular DVD disks and can than be played back on Blueray. The software upgrade would also be tricky as the older Cyber link software may leave registry errors when you delete from control panel.

I would say it depnds on what you can find and what your skill level with computers is. I will tell you now I changed my DVD drive out to a BD-RE this week and you dang near have to gut the whole computer. I'd say for 99% of people a bluray burner is never going to be used, I can tell you that if I wouldn't have got a good deal on mine I would have done normal bluray reader, it's up to you.

I think you only need a blu-ray reader/dvd rw. I don't think you'll use a blu-ray burner either. Actually, I back up on several flash drives and an external hard drive. I never use the dvd burner. The only one in my family that does is my son and he uses it to burn music cds. I've had too many corrupted cds and dvds that have data on them to trust them.

    Yeah...
    I think You're right...
I just thought that i might use the blu ray burner in the future....
    But...
    maybe you're right,,,
so... i guess i'll take an external blu ray instead of changing my laptops...
    :)
