    Hey guys,

Bought an R3 an few months ago and regrettably, didn't opt for the blu-ray drive. Wondering if anyone knows some cheap slot-loading blu-ray drives that are compatible with the R3. Decided to make the plunge to blu-ray.

Basically any slot-load 12.7mm SATA blu-ray drive will work.

    Personally I have a Panasonic UJ135AS

I've seen people have working Sony BC-5600S drives and HLDS CA10N drives (careful when searching for this CA10N drive, apparently there is a version that is DVD only).

Thanks for the reply. Both the Sony and Panasonic run for 200+, however the Canon can seemingly be picked up for cheap.

So something like this: Wholesale NEW HL BD ROM Blu Ray Combo SATA Slot in DVD Drive Burner CA10N

    would be fine?

Should be, so long as you know thats a BDROM and *NOT* a BD writer

    CA10N reads blu-rays and reads/writes dvds

I did the same thing with my machine (replaced the DVD burner with the BDROM). Be sure to follow the directions in the service manual precisely. You'll be taking apart the vast majority of the system to get to the drive unfortunately, but if you follow it carefully you'll be just fine. Be sure you have a really tiny phillips head screw driver for the screws around the drive, I had to go buy one special for it.
