I have a pair of Jabra Halo bluetooth headphones and I would like to use them for my M17x R3. I have been able to sync them with the laptop but I am unable to get sound to them. They work perfectly with my iPhone. I am hoping someone can help. Thanks.

The R3 doesn't come with the Widcomm BT stack which you need for audio. Download the drivers from the Dell website and everything should work.

Awesome thanks. I will try and post my results here.

I can't seem to find the driver you are talking about on Dell's website. Could you give me the full name of the driver I need and what category it is under?

I tried to install the Broadcom bluetooth software and when I try to install it I get this message. "The Bluetooth Adapter cannot be turned off at this time because one of the installed Bluetooth devices, probably a keyboard, does not allow the disable operation." Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

I've never seen that error before but at the risk of sounding like I'm stating the obvious, did you unpair all your devices before trying to install the driver?

For reference, the driver I have installed is 6.3.0.6060 by Broadcom Corporation. -
EDIT: Well I tried removing the driver completely and reinstalling it so I could run into the hiccup you seem to be experiencing but my re-installation happened without a hitch. -

I gave up on the broadcom's software install and tried the Dell BT driver and it was a success. I am able to use my BT headphones
Now all I need to be able to do is get the PS3 controller working in BT and I am good to go!

No I have not tried using BT with the PS3 controller but I also could not get the PS3 controller working wired either. I must have missed something. I installed the motionjoy program and plugged in my PS3 controller but the controller was never detected. Any ideas on how to get it to work?

For the record, I've never gotten the generic Broadcomm drivers from Broadcom's own website to work on any BT radio...ever. Sometimes I wonder why they're available haha.

Yes the problem file was from broadcom's website. I got the one from Dell's website and it works fine.

Nice to know you got it working finally. What are your thoughts on the sound quality though? I went through a couple "high-end" BT headsets before deciding that it just didn't cut it for voice quality over Skype, Ventrilo, etc. Just to make sure it wasn't my R3, I went ahead and tried the headsets with other PCs as well as external BT adapters but they all fell short of expectation.
Oddly though they sounded great on my cell phone but that's not why I'm buying them. I want to use them for gaming voice chat. -
So what's the word on the driver? Do we need to dl it?

for my soon to arrive M17xR3 I will be using DT770 Pro (80 ohm) via Fiio E7, USB connected to M17xR3 to bypass the laptop's sound card (I read a lot of good things about both the headphones and the amp; will let you know as soon as I test it)

You aren't going to be able to use the PS3 controller wirelessly without changing the driver to MotionJoy's bluetooth driver (assuming the chipset of our BT cards are even supported)
It isn't something that works with default drivers. My recommendation is buy the $5 BT USB adapter they recommend because you won't be able to use anything else except the PS3 controller.
I recommend just picking up a wired XBOX 360 controller, they work much better -

Its an audio thing really. If it made a difference for PS3 controllers I'd have posted it in your PS3 controller thread
However, I will say that its extremely silly of Dell not to have their own Widcomm distribution pre-installed...especially considering that to the average user, Bluetooth literally refers to the cyborg earpieces (albiet incorrectly) that make it look like you're talking to yourself. BT enabled should translate into BT headset ready "out-of-the-box". -

Dookie it doesn't hurt to dl the Dell driver and install it. Give it a try. One thing unfortunately with the BT headphones is that there is a noticable lag with the audio to what is playing on screen
it's about 1/2-1 second delay which is not good at all for playing games or watching videos. I am using a Jabra Halo and it works perfectly with my iPhone for music, videos or phone calls. Not sure if this could be fixed or if it is a software or a hardward issue with the BT transmitter in the laptop. My Razer Orochi work perfectly fine though no lag at all so not sure what would be the cause. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I've always been under the impression that BT audio was only for music but I had no idea that the delay is that bad. Like you said, your mouse seems to work fine. For the record though, BT is decidedly low-bandwidth.

I am not having any of the issues you guys are talking about with my Dell BH200 BT stereo headphones, and I think the BT module in the R2 and R3 may be the same part. In Device Manager, my BT module is listed as a Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Minicard. Is this what you guys have in the R3?
Even if you have a different module, you may need to open the properties page of the BT headphones and go to services? You must have the correct services enabled for audio. (I can't remember if it's audio gateway AV or something similar.) When I first connected my Dell BT headset the default services were for hands-free telephony rather than advanced audio. That will not work properly for music and video audio signals.
If you cannot figure out what I am referring to about the properties and services, let me know and I will post some screen shots. (It might not be until tomorrow.) -
Just wanted to confirm that I already have the drivers installed, and the title at the top of the window that said "Repair drivers?" said "Widcomm yada yada yada." Also wanted to confirm that reinstallation of said drivers DOES NOT affect PS3 controller BT issue... In conclusion: We're gonna have to all go buy external BT dongles

They are like $5 man...
