Hey guys, one hour after unboxing my Alienware m17x R3 i recieved bluescreen, i decided to give it some time to see if it would happen again so then the next day (today) I got it again, an odd thing is it seems like im getting it once a day (for 2 days) at the exact same time. Here is the information any advice would be appreciated. I hope I can solve this myself and I won't have to resort to Dells crap customer service.

    Thanks!

Get BlueScreenView, its free. This will allow you to see that actual log and you can find out more details about the problem. Example would be to find a driver file etc.

    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

One bluescreen I got out of the box turned out to be just a simple driver problem which was resolved by updating the particular drivers.
Also if you could, please paste more info from the log, that will help the community in helping you.

Thanks, I've downloaded the program but ive never really dealt with bluescreen before so I'm not really sure how to diagnose it even with the help of the bluescreen. The two logs are displayed above along with the corresponding files below. What should I do next? :/

Okay I'm pretty sure its telling me that the file that caused the blue screen is my windows 7 operating system. Ahh this does not seem good

I think this file ntoskrnl.exe is causing my problem

    Apparently this file is:

"ntoskrnl.exe (and ntkrnlpa.exe on systems with Physical Address Extension support) is the kernel image for the family of Microsoft Windows NT operating systems. It provides the Kernel and Executive layers of the Windows NT kernel space, and is responsible for various system services such as hardware virtualization, process and memory management, etc., thus making it a fundamental part of the system."

This is looking more and more like I'm going to have to send it back to Dell, am i right?

I would need to see the dump files.. they share more information and spacifics on other files involved.

It says its a driver power state thing... That could be any driver. The dump files prolly have the rest of the key info.

Updating spacific drivers could potentially fix the issue.

Also do you have any third party software on there already? Like speedfan or temp monitors?

You get the dumps from "BlueScreenView"

Right click on the dump at the top and save as a text file.

I really think a lot of bluescreens we see here are just from suspend/sleep issues. The only two bluescreens I had on my previous M17 were when I'd leave EverQuest 2 running and walk away for hours. I thnk I'd hit my "turn the display off" time limit or something and it'd crash the video drivers.

When I changed it to "never turn the screen off when on AC power" I never saw it again.
