Hey guys i've just bought a new alienware mx 17 and topped it with everything i could on the website...
Now i'm playing battlefield 3 at 20-30 fps... (that's really worth the 3200€.. :s ) 50-60 fps when i look at the ground without moving..

I don't know that much about computers but i know something is wrong this game should be a piece of cake for this pc... and shouldn't have trouble running everything at max settings right.

Anyone that has a clue what it could and care to help me out? getting sick of the money i bought for it especially for what i get in return right now :(

    i7 4900mq, 32gb ram; gtx780m, 256gb msata ssd boot + 750gb 7200rpm sata 6gbs, 120hz truelife screen.

    Thank you :)

Do you have the system set to high performance, and is the notebook plugged in? Which GPU did you get? the 770m or 780?

Nice system, you probably could have gotten an SLI 780m system with a 4800MQ for around the same price. With that being said, your GPU seems to be somewhat faulty at the moment and is probably not running at the full 771mhz stock 823 boost. Run 3dmark 11 or fire strike and report your scores here. Also Check the GPU temps. It could be that battlefield is forcing your gpu to downclock due to the temperatures. Ive seen quite a few threads with Dell 780ms under performing out of the box. And also, this is still but if you haven't already, set your power settings to high performance.

yeah i'm sure i could have gotten a better model for the same price i sadly enough got distracted by the notebook model itself i think grr!!
I wanted to go for the 18" first with dual gpu but i live in Belgium and didn't find any way to get it here.

Thanks for the replies guys, i will keep you up to date this weekend i have to work now till tonight so won't have time i'm afraid!

I'm afraid even my R2 with Xfire 5870's outperforms that what you get ....
something comes to mind, what's your BF3 AA setting?

Its not his AA setings. I run Ultra 1080p with 4x AA and get around 60fps avg. on full servers. I don't think he has it in high performance mode or something.

You could also try updating the bios A03, to fix any gpu issues.
