I know this has been discussed before but due to the worthless search feature on this forum you only get unrelated topics.

I installed the new 11.10 drivers for my vidcard. everything is working just fine including HDMI. only thing that does not work is the brightness control.

    please help.

The brightness control doesn't work at all? Or just from the the function keys. Did you try from power options?

Not at all. not even from the power options in windows.

Why is it so hard for AMD to let anything work. I have a friend that has an 7970m nothing but BSOD's and bad performance because of Enduro. Nvidia is miles ahead driver wise. drivers never seem to work first time. why doesn't it just uninstall EVERYTHING on its own and install auto after restart. it just blows my mind. I do everything according to the standard steps including driver fusion in safe mode.

Nope I installed the Unifl drivers. which are recommended for 6990M users. so the intel drivers are already in there. I followed every single word of this guide: UnifL Manual

This thread's idea is to turn the "test mode" of windows on so unsigned drivers can be installed. These settings are automatically set by the Unifl driver before you are even to begin installation. The Unifl driver needs testmode on at all times because they aren't signed. So I already followed the suggested steps in the thread. I think it's just that the current drivers break Brightness control. I will just wait on the new drivers since I am not using my laptop screen at this moment.
