So over in the want to buy section I made a thread asking for a barebones laptop.

But now I'm thinking it would be better to actually put it all together myself, for minimum cost and max customization.

Where I stand is I have an extra processor and 2 gfx cards from my M17x R1. Also have a couple of extra hard drives. I have some old ram too, but I'll probably pick some up for cheap. For inputs, the USB ports will be occupied by a logitech wireless receiver and a 360 wireless receiver for controller/keyboard/mouse. Leaving 2 extra ports open. WiFi is also not important since I will just plug it in to get it going, then move on over to no connection. I have Windows 8 on my current M17x so I have an extra Windows 7 waiting for it.

Anyway, as far as I know all I would need to run is:
Case (Might build myself one unless I buy an M17x R1 base)
    Motherboard
PSU (just the power brick that I would already have, right? So just buy another?)
    Ram
Heat sinks for processor and gfx cards (Part numbers for master and slave?). Are the R2's heatsinks different than the R1s?
Fans (Part numbers?) CPU, GPU Right, GPU Left
    Hard drive caddy (?)
I think there is a daughter board too?

Really though, I could just build off of anything that used Socket P and MXM 3.0b supporting FSB of 1033mhz. Screen is not important since it will be used with HDMI. I might add in a blu ray drive as well, since I am ripping the blu ray from my current R1 to put in another HDD.

Any suggestions or anyone had a similar work up? I'll obviously be doing a lot of research on my own when I rip open my R1 when all my parts come in and I start upgrading.

I'm also open to suggestions on alternatives. Either way, when I do my upgrades to my M17x R1 and then subsequently build a deformed baby out it I will post plenty of tutorials and pictures with resources used.

I appreciate any incite or help received. Thanks!
