hi guys, My alienware is really crapping out on me.
In games, it frequently stutters and i experience FPS drops.
I think this is not due to my GPU since i played games using my
external hard drive and did not experience any problems.

So, i suspect that this must be a Hard drive problem. I still have the stock
500GB hard drive from dell, i was looking to buy the seagate Momentus XT since it's pretty cheap and good.
Any other recommendations? My budget is only around 100$ atm.
Also, do hard drives differ in gaming experience?

    Thank you!!

Ideally you need a 2.5" (inch) 9.5mm (maximum) height HDD/SSD. If you can I'd go for a cheap SSD otherwise get a 7200RPM HDD. The 7200RPM will beat the more common 5400RPM HDDs out there. The HDD can cause stuttering as it loads, but it depends on the game.

$100 isn't enough for a decent SSD. I'd keep saving until you reach about $150-$175 and get a good brand 256GB SSD. That way you aren't worrying about SSD space down the line.
