    Hi everybody
This is my first alienware and I have somehow a special condition
I live in iran.this place is filled with laptops from msi sony apple lenovo... even dell
But not many alienware. So.l I need a sturdy machin that works for me for 3 or 4 years without any problem.for game and university. I study English translation so I need a lot of typing

I found a guy who had bought a brand new alienware 17 with this configuration
    16 gig ram
    770m nvidea 3 gig gddr5
    1 ter 5400 hard drive
    750 7500 hard drive
    128 gig ssd.
The laptop's build is 6 mars 2014.there is also a vindicator backpack.the price for both is 9600 milion tomans which is around 2900$
    So these are my questions.
    1.is it worth the money?
2.i am conserned about the rubber plastic falling off after a while.how is that?
3.how is the system noise on idle.
4 is the vindicator back pack worth it?

    Tnx for your time

    1. No, I paid £1,600 for the build that's in my signature. However, this is my own opinion. Others should/will also comment.
    2. The rubber palm rest is solid for me so far. However, I have seen images from members where there AW palm rest has slight tears in it.
    3. Neither bad or ultra silent.
    4. Meh, it's ok.

Not sold on the backpack if you're trying to be inconspicuous.

The backpack is around 100$ and doesn't matter very much. The laptop is important.i can get a gt70 dominator pro full pack with this money but the design is horrible

Sounds a little expensive to me (but it is very new), especially if Dell do not sell AW laptops in Iran. The international warranty is pretty much useless then as you can only get remote support. If parts are needed it has to be shipped back to the country of origin :(.

Fine for me. I should imagine it would stay fine if you take care of your product.

Yeah +1 with this. I just received my A17 and after an extended gaming session last night, I realized I may have to take my watch off...I was continually worried I was scratching the rubber!

Another thing. I purchased the Vindicator backpack and am really liking it. Lots of room. I carry all sorts of cables plus my Alienware and a Macbook Pro 13 inch. Also have my headphones in the headphone strap. It all fits.

It does not seem like a great deal to me. You could look for something better.

I am also looking at buying an alienware 17 and am having trouble deciding on the right video card for me. My choices are the 860m, 770m and the m290x. I know about the 880m but that tacks on an amount of money I don't think I want to spend. This is the first gaming laptop I have ever bought so the more detailed answers I can get the better. I don't plan on playing any really demanding fps titles or anything as intense as crysis but I still want to be able to play other popular titles (dishonored, tomb raider, bioshock, etc.) at medium or higher settings.

Please let me know what you think.
