    Hi folks... finally decided to get a M17 !
    But before I do, I have a few questions...!
    Should I just get base config and upgrade later on ?
    (ram, ssd..hd. etc)
    I'd like to have at least 8gb of ram.. but I have NO ideas what kind of ram to buy..
    SSD seems pretty easy to install, I heard Crucial ssd's are good.

    About WiFi.. which one would be the best to get ?
    Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 With Bluetooth 4.0 [Included in Price]
    Intel® Advanced-N WiFi Link 6250 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO Technology with WiMax and Bluetooth 4.0 [add $30.00 or $1.00/month1]

    Thx ! Looking forward to join you guys ;)

    i did base config on mine after seeing how much dell wants to charge for their upgrades. 6gb ram is usually enough but 8gb i think is best. kingston hyper x, crucial, g skill all make good ram and i dont think theres much difference between them. stick with the 1600mhz or higher. the gtx 660m i dont think is to bad of a card but the best bet seems to be the ati atm. check newegg or tigerdirect for the upgrades. im on my 2nd alienware laptop but im still fairly new to the game. from what ive seen theres tons of great info here though and a lot of helpful people so be sure to go over what everyone says and if theres any errors in my statement please correct me! :D enjoy your laptop they are a beast!

    Thank you for you answer ;
    Im def. going with the 7970, seems like a no-brainer.
    Im wondering though, does AW offer some kind of Matte screen...? At first I loved the MSIGT70 for his matte screen..
    and, is there any difference between the stock Wi-Fi card and the upgraded one ?

    no matte screen unfortunately. You get 1080p 60hz or 1080p 120hz

    I don't think you need to upgrade the wireless. If you are a hardcore gamer where every ms counts, you'll be plugged into a cable anyways. But that's just me.

    Another path to take is to get the stock wireless card, then if you wanted to upgrade, you can get a bigfoot killer wireless or intel 6300 aftermarket for $20-30. My gut says you won't need to though

    You can buy a matte screen protector if you desire a less reflective screen.
