Ok I got my r3 in and i have the c300 in 2nd bay. I want to use it as my 2nd HDD. When i change the sata from raid to ata or ahci it goes to windows loading and BSOD back to post. What did i do wrong?

Also i was able to turn on and use when it was still set to raid, and device manager says its there just no way to access it. In Disk Management i see the SSD but its unallocated and wont let me change it at all.

I think it might have something to do with Raid setting in BIOS but i dont know enough about BIOS to fix it.

If windows was installed with controller set to raid, it will need to be set to raid in order to boot properly (unless you change the controller in windows via regedit).

Why would you use an SSD as a slave drive?

EDIT: as for why you can't access it while in RAID, it's because the drive is not set up in the array. Dell really needs to stop shipping r3s with 1 drive in RAID.

i'd just use the windows7 dvd that came with the laptop as your current image was made on a HDD.

You'll also need the drivers dvd, or have downloaded them to somewhere that won't get erased from support.dell.com

Only use the resource disc as a last resort (as in no net connection). Drivers are never removed from support.dell.com. Always grab the current driver from dell if possible. :)
