Id like to see how these cards turn out. Probably be faster if you order 5870s since 4870s should be running low on stock soon.

 

Sorry but something I do not understand: why at he custimizing site it says: "CrossfireX™ 1GB ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 5870 [Add $375.00]
Alienware Recommended" without a mention to "dual" 1GB ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 5870 ...?

Adrian i'm pretty sure you'll be able to upgrade to it over the phone in the EU now. Although I still feel the M17x is overpriced here in the UK. If you take the US price and convert it to GBP you get £1242 even if you add 17.5% VAT onto that you still get £1459 which is a whole £100 less than the starting UK price! I shudder to think the price difference when you add upgrades!

 

Crossfire X = dual... i know what youre implying but they wouldve stated crossfire X ready or something then.

 

Well, it state also "Crossfire X" in the fiirst 1GB option too... this is very intriguing me. I'm not a "believer" when it's not clearly and specific stated... Maybe I'm too suspicious but maybe I'm too old to believe in fairies (and tacit statements...)

 

Nice prices too. $2272 USD gets you a 720QM, Dual 5870's, and RGB LED with EPP. This is before any haggling. I foresee this forum breaking some quote records soon.

Man, been waiting since Jan. Tommorrow the order goes in. To think, 10 min. ago I was pricing out a Sanger NP8120. Dual SSD's in Raid 0, +750GB HDD was calling out my name. But not as loud as dual 5870/RGB was

For anyone that cares. I was quoted the upgrade kit for dual 5870's at $449. I am not sure if you can apply any discounts to that, probably not. Still not bad, if true.

I just changed my order! Looking forward to getting it.

 

Blame it on my buying set point. Add the 940xm and I'm in. I don't want to upgrade to it later, so I'll wait to use my DPA when it's out. By then many will know the best tweaks and drivers for this new setup and I can "take flight" with it right out of the box!

ye i will have to wait untill wednesday mate, the replacement team is going to phone me then i was told on friday to talk about what i want in my r2 and ye the states are cheaper! im ordering a cintiq 21ux the new one, and its $2000 dollars, cheaper than when u convert the euros! i did end up paying £3899 for my R1 so i want all the R2 goodies for that price

 

Ah, so the quote I got was probably without any discounts. Nice to know. When I confirm this it will allow me to let go of my 4870's at a mean bargain. I know at least 1 person that might buy them right away. We'll see.

 

They just put a hold on my funds, so I guess it's progressing.

 

I just noticed you said kit, I assumed option in my reply.

I did have to call quickly to change the order. But I went back to dell and checked the status and confirmed CF 5870.
