Hey all as per my rigs specs in the signature i have recently installed Black-ops and get really bad FPS drops when a lot of people are around or i go higher(altitude), and sometimes it just lags the heck up.

I have modded my config files as per all the tricks but still is pretty bad, I didnt have these issues in MW2, is BlackOps to much for my comp? Anyone else having these issues?

What settings are you running at?

What kind of performance are you seeing in other games?

    Stealthmode on?

I would start by reinstalling your video drivers

It is usually at around 100-125fps, then dramatic drops to 15-20 fps and very choppy(obviously). In other games I have great performance, no issues.

very common with BlOps. the game is coded very badly. it might help if in CCC you don't have anything specified as "application managed" set it to x2 instead. helped me a lot.

If your pulling 100-125fps and dropping at times to that extreme, would suspect your CPU/GPU's are throttling back.

How is your temps while playing blops?

What I am finding is that some maps I do not have an issue but most of them I do. I tried running throttle stop while playing and it didn't work, don't really know my temps though?

Yup, most likely indicates your FPS problems with Blops are CrossX related.

Have you tried the latest amd ati drivers, (11.4 preview) released the other day?
If not, recommend them. Should have improved crossx compatibility with Blops.

Lastly, If a driver update doesn't resolve it in this game try one more thing.
Open the games "config_mp.cfg" file and edit these two CVARS.

    seta r_multiGpu "0"
    seta r_multithreaded_device "0"

I run a single 5850 in my desktop, hence why both are set to 0 in my config.
seta r_multithreaded_device does not pertain to the cpu btw. Its an nvidia throwback.

In your case it should be this by default:
    seta r_multiGpu "1"
    seta r_multithreaded_device "0"

    Good luck

It is quite possible it was temp related. I have the NZXT 17inch aluminum laptop cooler but it wasn't enough, I placed a second Coolermaster cooler on top of the NZXTand my max temps according to Throttle Stop are 93 as before it said 100 but I believe it may have gotten hotter then that.

I also disabled the bios overclocking and everything seems a bit better now, no real big fps drops...

Strange as this game is the only one that poses me problems.

I play BlOps on my system with crossfire 4870's my system is really rockin' though i don't get your figures like 100-120 fps mine are more like 40-70 last time i checked...

I use the 11.2 drivers and will try the new ones very soon ;)
