So after re-pasting my cpu with cool labs liquid ultra (CLU) I saw my temps rise - not expected as id had gelid extreme on there before the re-paste for probably over 6 months without a re-paste.
I have after about 3-4 days removed the CLU & went back to gelid extreme. I found that the CLU had dried hard in a matter of days along one side of the cpu (the side nearest the vrms). I believe this to be caused buy the heatsink being warped and not making close enough contact to the die.

I was wondering if anyone had had a slimier issue and had worked out a good way to measure the bend across the copper plate and found a good way to straighten the plate back out

    To measure
The only thing i can think of at the moment is to set the heatsink up on an inspection plate and measure it with a dti. As the section the makes contact with the die is slightly recessed so the bend wouldn't show up by using an engineers square

    To bend back
I haven't came up with a good solution yet other than buy a new heatsink

You sure it's warped? Not uneven screw pressure?

I don't believe so, but good point, i'll check it with a toque screwdriver later

update no its mounted fine for the price of a new heat sink its not worth the my time and im still having the temp on two cores, just keeps on climbing im starting to think i could just be a processor issue but will see when the new heat-sink turns up
