I just went into the BIOS. On the advance tab I saw performance options, then I saw CPU Vcore.

    Three options were available:
    Default
    Increase 150 mv
    Increase 75 mv

I was just wondering what CPU Vcore was used for, and what would happen if I set it to increase 150 mv?

    Regards :)

Increasing the CPU Vcore can help with stability when you are overclocking. It also increases your core temperature and power consumption so don't increase this if you are not having stability issues.

Try downloading ThrottleStop. It has a couple of options that can be used to unlock the full power of the 920XM and 940XM CPUs. When you right click on ThrottleStop, you will find one option that lets you increase your turbo multipliers and another option to increase the turbo TDP/TDC setting. This controls the CPUs maximum power consumption and how much turbo boost you get when the CPU is fully loaded. It can significantly increase performance but you need to keep an eye on temperatures if you start playing with these settings.

Is there a way I can OC my CPU using trottlestop or increasing the CPU Vcore to 150 mv?

    Cheers.

the extremes have the multi unlocked so you can push higher than stock, however i believe you may be out of luck with the 720qm

have you tried setfsb? some people have had success overclocking with this. not sure about vcore though
but from past experience, vcore increases stability of an overclock allowing you to go higher. therefore, vcore only offers more potential... it's wasted if not used. always use the minimum required for 100% stability, any more is just a waste of power and heat.

Ah Thanks for the info. I just I thought I could maybe do a little OCing in the bios like I used to in the R1 where I just increased the FSB frequecy and OCed the CPU to 2.4Ghz. Guess I will have to use setfsb or something else then. Hmmmssss. Any recommendations for OCing the GPU? I tried ATi tools but that said I didn't have a compatible driver installed or something. I might give Rivatuner a go. I used to use Nvidia system tools for the R1 that was easy and cool to use.
    Cheers.
