Guess this is a longshot but got to try if anyone has tried this before.

I used to have crossifre GPU.
This is replaced with a single faster GPU.

But this leaves me with the fan and heatsink of the GPU2 that will be controlled using HWinfo.

Is there any kit/description for using this GPU2 heatsink to aid either CPU or GPU1 better than just been a fan pushing air around components not needing that much cooling? Copper links between the heatsinks etc?

I would leave the fan in there but unplug it as not doing a lot to cool.

Was sort of hoping for a possibility of linking the heatsinks to increase the CPU cooling for instance. Had bad socket for the GPU2 fan and just bought a new one but not installed yet, and computer has run now for a while without GPU2 fan running. Have had to remove the OC of my 940 to get back to livable temperatures and would love to increase again.

I would just leave it as it is.

    probably might.
Going to repaste my CPU and GPU with new paste and do the 330W psu mod from imsolidstate that he has made working now up til above 400W. Just want to do this since i have an old 220 W PSU with chip i can use.
Then try to overclock my CPU and if it works with much higher speed with temperature, I might go for upgrade to crossfire.

Linking the two together would involve a soldering iron, heatpipes and case modifications, and would not be a quick project.

Was afraid so. Had a moment where i looked for pipes to silver-solder them to the CPU pipes and over to the GPU2 side, but since i might do crossfire update later, ill leave it. On the other hand, if i cant speed up my CPU quite a bit, crossfire two 7970 is a waste of money for the 940Xm.
