Just wondering because I have 8gb of the hyperx i originally bought for an r3 that I put in it for a few days before I sold the machine. If I keep this R2 over the 3d r3 Can I use the hyperx in the R2 at 1600mhz or any other advantage to use it?

Have you tried changing xmp profiles in the bios?

I believe those are in the r3 (current) model? i did do that but i'm talking about using the hyperx in the R2 (older model) which I believe stock also ran 1333 mhz memory but Im unsure if the i7-920xm can run 1600.

Yes I know. Because I also on the intel website, 2630qm shows it doesnt support 1600mhz but thru xmp profiles in the bios I can change it. Have you tried that on your r2?

XMP profiles only work when a Sandy Bridge processor is present, correct? So then, my R1 will never be able to use them, because of socket incompatibility? (I use a socket micro-PGA487, I believe. I may be off by a few digits, though.)

    Thank you!

Can they be used to run lower memory timings or anything? Will it run the same as the oem timings that's in it now? I guess I can just sell them
