Bought an m17x r2 about a year ago and I regret not maxxing it out. I ended up with 1gb ati radeon mobility 4870 and a core i7 720qm. was wondering if I can put in another 4870? Or upgrade to the 5870 or even upgrade my processor?

Of course you can. But it'll be expensive if you buy from Dell. Are you out of warranty? Cause if you are you're better off doing things after market with the GPUs, Dell will charge an arm and a leg for the card and CPU.

4 days until my warranty expires. So what would be my best bet? Buy the stuff on my own and install it?

You not interested in extending your warranty?
I was quoted from dell some time ago about $389.99 + tax shipping for a secondary card with a HS and XF cable, Also you can buy the 920xm from jokers friend on ebay PC-Best-Buy-1 for like $399. You do have to buy a fan though which is about $60 + tax and shipping, and you can get 8 gigs of kingston hyperx ram from newegg.com for $100

The part number for a second 4870 w/HS+XF cable is 2YVP1

and the part number for the fan is F605N

If you wanted to go to 5870's you are looking closer to $700 - $750 dollars for the cards and will still only need one fan.

Well I had just requested to extend my warranty few days ago. And I'm not really that interested in ram already have 6gb of 1066 ram. More looking at the videocard and maybe the processor, idk maybe will wait off on the processor for a bit. I looked online for parts I could get from Dell and I didn't see an option for a videocard...

You can either do a chat with the parts people on the dell website or you can call. these are not searchable parts.

this should have been included when you pruchased the R2 if it wasn't when you call tech support and tell them that it wasn't included.
