I currently have an alienware 17 with a 770m and an is 4700mq that I received in December back in 2013.

Its still a pretty kick ass system but it has had problems recently and currently won't post (8 beep code gonna reset cmos soon but this is not what this thread is about) but as I was troubleshooting I started wondering about about upgrading my system which is dangerous to the wallet but I'm really considering biting the bullet.

The main reason I am starting this thread is that I have dreams of a 1070m. The card looks amazing. Does anyone have any insight into whether or not I will run into problems if I find and buy an upgrade kit shortly after release and pop it into my computer? Also if you know of a good place to look for one please let me know below.

Another dream of mine would be to put a decent ssd in as a boot drive which shouldn't be a problem but if you have any quick suggestions feel free to throw them below.

I have 16 GB of ram which I have deemed more than sufficient especially since I believe it is 4x4gig which would make a decent upgrade pretty expensive for any real performance gain but let me know if you think otherwise.

I am thinking a budget of $500-600 (Canadian) and would be thrilled if it would bring the beast to vr ready since it is my main rig. Before I do anything I will regret let me know what my best options are and what to avoid. One last thing, the cap isn't set in stone so let me know, if raising the cap for some particular parts would be a good idea.

    I don't think they've been announced yet.

Yeah it hasn't been announced, yet. I believe that all the 800 and 900 series mobile cards will work and I believe the 1070 and 1080 would work as well without issues. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard or knows anything that I don't about whether or not it will work or if it's a good idea.

Unfortunately nobody can give you any guarantee that a 1070M will work. The only way to know is if somebody tries it.

When they come out you can be first! :D

Well I don't think I'll be biting the bullet first and offering myself as a sacrifice. I'll wait until someone else either does it and wastes like $500 or gets quite a nice upgrade

since there's nothing to prove that a bunch of unannounced cards will work on a 3 yo+ laptop is questionable. I'd rather buy it with a kaby lake CPU instead.
