    Isold my r3 and think I may have given him the m14x win7 installation DVD. Are they different for each model or should it be fine? New owner experiencing bsods and errors that never occurred even once over several months.

    Same for each. All it is, is a copy of the windows dvd that is given to you if you buy it at the store. BUT if the m14x had home premium and the 17x had ultimate ETC...., the license keys are different.
