Can RAID be setup on M17x R3 later if not chosen during build?

Do all M17x's have the ability to do RAID? It would have put me over my budget to choose a RAID config so I didn't. I have a 2nd 750 GB drive in my Toshiba that I could pair with the 750 GB in my Alienware and would love to do a RAID 0.

Thanks AJ! Ok great. I'll have to research cloning the factory drive maybe. I would like to keep the original OS instead of wiping it and starting from scratch and loosing the AW setup. Don't know if its even possible to clone reg drive to RAID setup.

Hey Rizzo, yes, you can do so via the Intel Rapid Storage Technology tool without losing ANY data.

    It's really convenient too!

A fair bit of warning though, hard drives are SO prone to failure (speaking from a personal experience of 6 failed internal HDDs) that your chances of data loss are quite high. You might be better off doing a RAID 1. At least that's what I did... =)

Thanks for the tips. After unboxing and playing with my M17x for a few hours, I popped in my other 750 GB hard drive from my old Toshiba (which happens to be an identical drive WD Scorpio) after backing up the factory OS with "AlienRespawn". I have RAID 0 setup already and my OS back up an running. Time to install BF3 :)

*surprised to see my WEI hard drive score only go from 5.8 to 5.9 ......I expected more...
