As the title states, Can i put an R4 motherboard in an R3 chassis and have everything else in there working

    Keyboard
    Mouse
    120hz Display
Etc, All will work fine yes? no? otherwise? Maybe?

Because if i do that then i can take the 980m out of my other laptop and get lots of easy performance/upgrades.

I wish to know as well. Never thought about it, but you CAN do this with the M18X-R1 to the M18X-R2 with you switch a few things.

Any idea what things need to be changed for the 18x? Likely a similar set of things would need it here.

If you are talking about the M17x r3 and r4, yes you can. That is what I did. The only thing that does not work is the "Alienware" led under the monitor. You have to get a new led to make it work.
