    I own a m17X R4. with a Geforce GTX 660m

    i have the part # for a 7970m
and found out its price, etc etc. and when/how to buy it.

    only question is

If i were to purchase one would i be able to install it to replace the 660M thats in this thing?

    --EDIT--
Im talking to a rep as i type this, hes stating its possible to upgrade it myself.

i just really want a "community" response and perspective on this

I guess my next question would be. Do you know any vendors whom sell said card? because dell is telling me i have to wait 6mo's from (m17x R4) release. i.e. "Point of sale" in order to purchase it from them

--Also in the guide ti states the 580m/675m have diff heatsinks and thus require one to be purchased for the 7970M. Does the 660M also fall into this category?

contact "upgradeyourlaptop" on ebay. They are Eurocom and based out of Canada and sell the Clevo 7970m which will work in our systems. I bought mine from them and waiting for the order to come in. You will be paying a pretty penny for it though.

Would the 675m be a Noticeable change above the 660m?

As long as you dont have the 3D screen you are fine.

I have the 3d screen.. why is this bad?
    I think anyway

    17.3-inch WideHD+ 1600 x 900 60Hz WLED

    The choices when buying were

    -- 17.3-inch WideHD+ 1600 x 900 60Hz WLED [Included in Price]
    17.3-inch WideFHD 1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED [Add $150.00 or $4.00/month1]
    17.3-inch WideFHD 1920 x 1080 120Hz NVIDIA 3D Vision Bundle --

Im actually pretty sure i DONT have it..

however? i have the option to turn on Stereoscopic 3D in Crysis 2 And such..does that mean i do have it?

The 60Hz screens are not 3D, whether a program has a 3D Option is irrelevant if your display cannot render that.

Oh Thank god, so does this mean that im capable of upgrading to a 7970M or a GTX 675?

And if i did choose the 675M is it a noticeable upgrade above the 660m?

yes you can upgrade to either. I would highly rec you get the 7970m, cheaper and much, much more powerful than the 675m
